Worship Resources: Overcoming Sin

Scriptures
Exodus 20:1-17. God’s law leads disciples to an understanding of their sin and guides them to righteous living.

Jeremiah 17:5-10. The human heart is deceitful. But the Lord knows us and does not leave us in our misery. The cure for our sin is Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Psalm 1. This psalm teaches that there “two ways”—the way of sin and the way of righteousness. Disciples follow the way of Christ's righteousness by submitting to the grace and power of God’s word (“law”).

Romans 7:7-25. Paul describes what so many of Jesus’ disciples have experienced: the tremendous struggle with sin. Paul is a real sinner, to be sure—but he is met by a real Savior.
