Worship Resources: Prayer

Scriptures
Psalm 30:1-2. The Bible’s prayer book, Psalms, ranges from glad exaltation to passionate cries for help. These two verses can serve as a summary of the entire book. Note the resurrection direction of the entire psalm!
Jonah 2. Jonah's prayer to God, saturated in the language of the psalms.
Matthew 6:5-13; Luke 11:1-13. Jesus teaches followers a model prayer to offer to a loving, sovereign Father.
Romans 8:26-27. The Holy Spirit strengthens our weak prayers.
Philippians 4:6-7. Anxiety, the bane of believers, is best waded through with confident, thankful intercessory prayer to our God, who guards us in Christ Jesus.
Hebrew 4:14-16. Prayer is rooted in and made possible by our high priest, Jesus. In his suffering, he knows our suffering. Through his resurrection and ascension, he leads suffering sinners to the throne of grace.
