Worship Resources: Reading the Bible

Scriptures
Nehemiah 8:1-10. God's Word is read aloud and at length. The resulting worship, weeping, and feasting reveals that the Word has the ability to draw God's people into new and corrective ways of seeing themselves and the world.
Psalm 19. God is the Lord of creation and the One who speaks to his people. This psalm celebrates both “general revelation” and “specific revelation” (Belgic Confession, article 2).
Psalm 119:105. God's Word is trustworthy, a light for disciples in a dark world. Much of the rest of this psalm also reflects dependence on God’s Word (“law”).
Luke 4:16-30. This text points to the broad principle that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament Scriptures (see also Luke 24:27). More specifically, it reveals Jesus' saving mission as found in the Old Testament.
2 Timothy 3:14-17. Scripture guides us into the salvation of Jesus Christ and into the salvation living of the Holy Spirit.
