How to Begin

Before you begin:

• Decide who will coordinate the Disciples study groups. Have them read this.
• Schedule and plan worship series using Follow Me: Resources for Worship.
• Announce year 1 of Disciples to your congregation. Organize study groups. Click here for resources.
• Order copies of Follow Me: Discussion Guide (one per study group participant).
• Order copies of Follow Me: Daily Readings for Disciples (one per household).

As you begin:

On the first week, you’ll begin the worship series (see below) and distribute copies of Follow Me: Daily Readings for Disciples to every household. Study groups will begin meeting using the discussion guides.

Follow Me (study 1, weeks 1-5)

Worship Outline:
Week 1: Constructing a Life—Matthew 7:24-29
Theme: We are not only to hear but do the words of Jesus.

Week 2: A Real Human Life—Romans 5:1-11, 18-21
Theme: We build our lives on the model of God’s perfect Son.

Week 3: The Shepherd and the Sheep—John 10:1-21
Theme: We follow the only Shepherd who can and will lead us into eternal life.

Week 4: The Making of a Disciple—Ephesians 2:1-10; 4:1-6
Theme: We walk together: Called, Created, Crafted, Commissioned.

Week 5: The Way—John 14:1-17
Theme: We walk toward Home in the company of the Spirit of God.

Called (study 2, weeks 6-10)

Created (study 3, weeks 11-15)

Crafted (study 4, weeks 16-20)

Commissioned (study 5, weeks 21-25)
